Los Angeles Sunset - 24L Arrivals

A bit of a mix up this time of some arrivals into LAX just before sunset onto runway 24L.
I took all these shots from the same spot in very warm humid conditions, and with beautiful clear skies.

Lufthansa B747-8

My favourite aircraft of all time, the B747, all versions of the 747 are awesome in my opinion and here are my first photos the B747-8 variant. I just wish the windows were clean and the sun was out when I took these, so with that I'm looking forward to some better photos in the future.

So here is Lufthansa's D-ABYL taxing out in LAX heading back to Frankfurt.

American Airlines - Old Livery vs New Livery

A photo comparison here of the old & new American Airlines livery worn by a couple of their

B737-800's. I have always like the old American livery for some reason and I think the new livery is

just awesome, simple and purely American branding. I like it a lot.

Atlas Air B747-400 - N263SG

I was pretty happy to see this Atlas Air B747-400, N263SG land at LAX when I was up on
Imperial Hill taking a few photos. It landed on the north side of the airport on runway 24L and then it taxied all the way over to the south side and right pass the viewing area, to the delight of the other spotters on location also.

California Science Centre - United Airlines DC-8

Whilst in Los Angeles I made a trip to the California Science Centre for a visit, which is located pretty close to downtown LA. The Science Centre is great, with lots of impressive exhibits and displays on Aviation and Space Flight, along with great general science and technology learning also.
It's a huge place so will be making a trip back again, but not during the USA school holiday season, the place was packed with kids and was very crowded the day I was there.

Thought I'd start by showing these photos of this ex United Airlines DC-8, N8066U which was donated to the California Science Centre back in 1984, I believe. N8066U was also nicknamed
"Los Angeles". Due to its location, I could not get any full length side on shots so had to be happy with these ones.
