RNZAF Seasprite NZ3612

A surprise visitor to Auckland on the 5th February with the RNZAF's Seasprite NZ3612 taxing out, unusual, for 23L. I don't think he needed full length either. Anyway it was a nice surprise to see the Seasprite at AKL, all be it very briefly.

RNZAF Texan's

Yesterday I made the drive to out the Whenuapai Air Force base in expectation of some action, in regards to the fly over event for the Royal New Zealand Navy's 75th Anniversary, which was planned including the RNZAF's Texans's and the Japanese visiting Maritime P-1's and a Korean P3 Orion.

Well the weather was crap so say the least and the flyover was unfortunately cancelled due low cloud and persist rain. So was lucky to even see the RNZAF, Texan's taxi out as they headed for home at Ohakea, where they are based. These photos were taken in the worst conditions I've every tried to.

RNZAF B757- NZ7571

A magic clear and crisp winters day yesterday in Auckland with plenty of sunshine at last.

So a the drive out to Whenuapai Air force base in west Auckland was not wasted and I was rewarded with this RNZAF B757-200, NZ7571 taxi out and depart for Darwin, Australia.

To date these are some of my better shots of the NZ7571.

RNZAF C-130H Hercules - NZ7001

The Royal New New Zealand Airforce had their C-130H Hercules, NZ7001 on static display also at the airshow, allowing the crowds to look onboard and climb into the cockpit for a good look.

The RNZAF currently have 5, C-130H Hercules and they first took delivery of NZ7001-7003 back in 1965. NZ7001-7003 were some of the first off the Lockheed production lines. The other two RNZAF C-130's, NZ7004-NZ7005 were delivered in 1969.

When they are empty they are have a range of about 4000nm.
Powered by 4 X Allison T56-A-15 engines, with a 4910 Shaft Horsepower, it has a range of about 2200nm with a payload of about 12,700kg.

RNZAF Texan T6C - NZ1406 & NZ1407

The Royal New Zealand Airforce has just received these brand new Beechcraft T6C Texan aircraft and were on display at the Wings over Wairarapa Airshow. These aircraft did only a very brief flying display, which was literary a takeoff, fly pass down the runway and then an approach and landing.

It will take some time before these great race machines can perform aerobatics at airshows, due to training requirements etc etc....

In the first photo is NZ1406 departing Masterton for its home base at Ohakea, and in the last 3 photos is NZ1407 on static display.

USAF C130 and a RNZAF B757

Some Military Action this time....

Ok, this time I got some shots out at Whenuapai Airforce base in Auckland last weekend of a visiting USAF C130 24-2067 that was conducting parachute drops over the base.

And just out of luck, also making an arrival back from Australia to Whenuapai was the RNZAF's
B757, NZ7572 which landed just before the C130.

So here's the approach and landing shots of the day....
