Great Barrier Airlines announce new Auckland - Kaitaia flights, to fill the gap after Air NZ announced it would cease operations there. Great Barrier will use a Cessna Grand Caravan on the route.

Air New Zealand announces Interim Financial results
Reports normalised Before Tax earns of $216 million, an increase of 20% for same period from last FY. Profit after Taxation of $133 million.

Emirates Sky Cargo B777-200FL Freighter, A6-EFM, arrives in Auckland direct from Colombo,
Sri Lanka as UAE9300 carrying an 8 year old Elephant named "Anjalee" who is destined for her new home at the Auckland Zoo.

Air New Zealand and Air China unveil proposed Alliance.
Under the proposal Air China will introduce daily Beijing - Auckland services and will code share on Air New Zealand's current Auckland - Shanghai services.

16 April
Air New Zealand announce a new direct service to Houston, Texas. Starting in December 2015 using the B777-200ER. Houston will become the 5th North American destination along with Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hawaii, and Vancouver.

LAN Airlines operated their last A340-300 flight from Auckland - Santiago, Chile, operated by
CC-CQF

18 April
LAN Airlines First B787-8, CC-BBA arrives in Auckland from Santiago, Chile as LA801. From today onwards LAN will operated the B787's on the New Zealand / Australia Route.

30 April
Air New Zealand today Officially turned 75 Years Old. Today in 1940 the first Short S30 Aircraft departed Auckland for Sydney arriving in Rose Bay some 9 hours after the departure.
Today in 2015 Air New Zealand operated a special themed flight NZ103 using the 787-9
ZK-NZE.

Air New Zealand announces the sale of Safe Air to Airbus Group Australia Pty Limited.

Air New Zealand's Grab A Seat turns 9 years old.

Jetstar announce that they will enter into the New Zealand Regional Market using Turbo Prop
Q300 Aircraft, competing against Air New Zealand.

25 July
Air New Zealand's fourth to be delivered B787-9, ZK-NZD arrives into Auckland on its delivery flight from Boeing's Paine Field, Everett, Seattle.

9 Aug
Air New Zealand marks One Year Service of the B787-9 since entering service with ZK-NZE
flying the inaugural flight from Auckland to Sydney.

Also today Air New Zealand operated its first B787-9 to Brisbane.
ZK-NZD operated NZ134 from AKL-BNE and NZ139 on the return flight.

Air New Zealand's second to last B737-300, ZK-NGJ retires after operating its last flight, NZ539 from Auckland to Christchurch. ZK-NGJ was the last ever B737-300 built by Boeing.

Air New Zealand teams up with the All Black's Rugby Team and releases a new Safety Video
"Men In Black Safety Defenders". The new safety video was inspired by the Columbia Pictures
Men In Black Movie.

Qantas Airways announce the order of the B787-9 Dreamliner, with its first flights to be operated in 2017. Also mention was the possible new route of Melbourne - Dallas using the new Dreamliner.

LAN Airlines operates its first B787-9 Dreamliner CC-BGA into Auckland from Santiago as LA801.

26 Aug
Air New Zealand announces a record Annual Financial result, with a declared normalised earnings of $496 million (a 49 percent increase from last year) and a after tax profit of $327 million, an increase of 24 percent from last year.

31 Aug
Jetstar announces new regional routes in New Zealand using the Q300 aircraft.
Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth and Palmerston North were named as the new destinations to be serviced and opening special one way airfares at $9.
Flights to commence in December 2015.

Air New Zealand's B787-9, ZK-NZC enters service operating NZ135 from Auckland to Brisbane.

THE END, After 47 years in service and gracing the New Zealand skies, Air New Zealand retires its last remaining B737, ZK-NGI. After a full days flying ZK-NGI operated the last ever B737 revenue flight NZ557 from Auckland to Christchurch, and bringing a close to another chapter in New Zealand Aviation.

this morning as NZ1737. Bringing the END of B737-300 operations.

LAN Airlines commence daily B787-9 Dreamliner operations on the SCL-AKL-SYD route.
This first aircraft to operate in AKL was CC-BGA.

27 Sep
Air New Zealand operates its first B787-9 Dreamliner flight from Auckland - Los Angeles.
ZK-NZC had the honor operating NZ4 departing Auckland at 1545.
The B787-9 will operate flights NZ4 AKL/LAX and NZ3 LAX/AKL until the 12th Oct 2015.

United Airlines announce that they will start flying a new service from San Francisco to Auckland
New Zealand starting in July 2016 using the B787-8 three times a week. Moving to daily
SFO-AKL-SFO flights using the B787-9 in November 2016.
The new service is in an Alliance with Air New Zealand.
This will see the return of United Airlines to New Zealand since they last flew to Auckland back in 2003.

24 Oct
Air New Zealand operates its first B787-9 flight to Nadi, Fiji. The B787-9 will replace the B777's as wide body aircraft on the AKL-NAN-AKL route.

Air New Zealand is named for the 7th consecutive year in a row as Australasia's Leading Airline at
the 2015 World Travel Awards, Air NZ also took out the Australasia's Leading Airport Lounge at Christchurch Airport for the 3rd year running.

Air New Zealand's 6th to be delivered B787-9, ZK-NZH arrives into Auckland on it's delivery flight as NZ6094 from Paine Field.

The All Blacks Rugby Team arrive home in Auckland on NZ1 from London carrying the Rugby World Cup, The Webb Ellis Trophy, on-board Air New Zealand's black B777-300ER, ZK-OKQ

Qantas Airways Flight QF11 from SYD-LAX operated by A380VH-OQF diverts to Auckland, touching down on runway 23L just before 1830 local time. 

5 Nov
Air New Zealand's brand new and newly delivered B787-9, ZK-NZH enters service operating its first revenue flight from Auckland to Perth as NZ175.

Qantas Airways Flight QF28 from SCL-SYD operated by B747-400, VH-OJU diverts to Chritchurch for fuel. It landed in CHC just before 2030 local time.

Air New Zealand announces that they will purchase 15 new ATR72-600 aircraft to operate its Regional Services. The list price of the 15 new aircraft is $US375 million. Four of the new aircraft will allow for the growth of the regional routes while replacing the 11 ATR72-500 in the fleet.
The new ATR72-600's will start to arrive in late 2016.

American Airlines announced that they will start operating flights from Los Angeles - Auckland in June 2016 using the B787-8. The daily flights will be run in an alliance with Qantas Airways on the new route to be operated by American. It will also see the end of Air New Zealand's monopoly on direct non-stop flights between New Zealand and the US.

Air New Zealand announces Vietnam as a new route with services to Ho Chi Minh City's, Tan So Nhat International Airport. The new service will operate on a seasonal basis from June - October starting in 2016 using the B767-300ER three times a week. The flight time will be about 11 hours.

Air New Zealand announce that they will begin flying the B787-9 Dreamliner to Honolulu from the 10th May 2016, which will also see a 20% increase in capacity. Air NZ will also be retiming its AKL-HNL-AKL flights to new departure times both from AKL and HNL as to give better connection times. Starting from the 29th March 2016 the Auckland - Honolulu flights will depart AKL 8:55pm, arriving in HNL at 7:30am. The Honolulu - Auckland flights will depart HNL 9:40am and arrive in AKL at 4:35pm.

Air New Zealand's commences flying from Auckland - Buenos Aires operating its first scheduled flight to South America with the B777-200ER. ZK-OKC the only -200 wearing the new livery, had the honour of operating NZ30.

2 Dec
Cathy Pacific Airways fly their first B777-300ER, flight CX197 into Auckland from Hong Kong operated by B-KQR. The B777-300ER has replaced the A340-300 on the HKG-AKL-HKG CX197/198 flights over the summer period until March 2016.

10 Dec
Air China's first alliance flight arrives in Auckland from Beijing. Flight CA783, operated by B-5932, A330-200 touched down in Auckland just before 1900 local time.

15 Dec
Air New Zealand operates its inaugural flight NZ28 from Auckland - Houston (IAH).  ZK-OKF operated the inaugural flight with a flight time of 13 hours.
