Hi Fly Visits Again...

Hi Fly to the rescue again for Air New Zealand, seeing a second visit to Auckland for their
A340-300, 9H-FOX.

9H-FOX was chartered for a 3 week period to cover the Auckland - Honolulu - Auckland, NZ10/9 flights due to the B787-9 engine issues again affecting Air New Zealand.

Got these shots of NZ9 arriving from Honolulu a few days before the contracted ended and 9H-FOX left NZ again.

Hi Fly To The Rescue...

Welcome to Auckland Hi Fly...

Air New Zealand unfortunately have had to pull four B787-9's out of service due to ongoing problems with their Rolls Royce Trent Engines.
As it is the peak travel season time, and Air New Zealand struggling to maintain their schedule with four less wide bodies, help was required.

As a result Air New Zealand has arranged a Wet Lease from Hi Fly, a European Charter Airline based in Portugal, using two aircraft, an A330-200 & A340-300.

The A330-200, CS-TQW is operating on the Auckland - Perth - Auckland, NZ175/6 flights and the A340-300, 9H-FOX is operating the Auckland - Sydney - Auckland sectors, flying the
NZ101/2 & NZ105/8 flights.

Its a bit unknown how long the services of Hi Fly will be required but I suspect it will be well into Late January early February.

Philippine Airlines A340-300

Philippine Airlines have changed their Auckland operation, now operating non-stop from Manila using the A340-300. This service is replacing their Manila - Cairns - Auckland flight using the A320 and A321's.

Air Asia X Special Liveries, 9M-XXH and 9M-XXT

Air Asia X sure do have some very colourful liveries on their A340-300's that they operate into Auckland from Kuala Lumper via the Gold Coast.

Some photos of two example's arriving two days apart in the same light and weather conditions.
Also got the same time sequence of the shots the same also.

Air Tahiti Nui A330-400, F-OSEA

Air Tahiti Nui are the last sole remaining airlines to operate the A340-300 into Auckland.

They have orders for the B787-9 coming their way and it sure will be nice to see them flying the 789 into Auckland.

Must have been a light load today with this Air Tahiti Nui A340-300, F-OJTN operating TN102 from Auckland to Papeete, and rotating fairly early for an A340 off runway 05R.

Farewell Cathay Pacific's A340-300's

Well yesterday the 27th October 2016, saw the end of Cathay Pacific's A340-300 services to Auckland, after many years of operating down under on the Hong Kong - Auckland - Hong Kong route. Cathay have operated in the past B747-200's, B747-400's and now the A340-300 will enter the history books in Cathay's Auckland services. B-HXG wearing the One World Livery had the honour of flying the last CX197/198 A340 flight yesterday.

Cathay will now start to operate the Airbus A350, also giving them the honour of being the first airline to operate the A350 into Auckland.

So Auckland will now only have one sole A340 operator, which is Air Tahiti Nui, until they introduce their new B787-9's into service.
