Cathay Pacific A350, B-LRG

Happy New Year everyone for 2017.

I would also like to thank you for following my blog and photos in 2016, and I hope I can keep it interesting in 2017 with a bit of variety along the way. Sorry also for the long gap since I last posted some photos, have had a bit of a holiday and break away from plane photos, but will be slowly getting back into it.

My first photos of 2017 just happens to be of this early morning arrival of Cathay's A350, B-LRG arriving into Auckland on runway 05R. Its been a crap summer weather wise in Auckland this year but the weather gods were on my side today.

Cathay Pacific A350, B-LRE

The Airbus A350 is one slick machine and sure looks great, and is the only Airbus that looks great in my opinion. Managed to get these photos of B-LRE taking off back to Hong Kong as CX198.

With the arrival of Hong Kong Airlines on the AKL-HKG route, this now sees three airlines competing for business on the sector.

Cathay Pacific's A350-900 Arrives In Auckland

Yesterday the 28th October 2016, saw Aviation History made again in Auckland, with the arrival of the first ever Commercial Passenger A350-900 flight touch down in Auckland.

Cathay Pacific has the honour of becoming the first Airline to operate the new state of the art Airbus A350 into New Zealand.

B-LRC had the honour also of being the first Cathay A350, touching down just before 1:00 pm local time in Auckland.

Great to see finally the A350 in service to New Zealand.

Farewell Cathay Pacific's A340-300's

Well yesterday the 27th October 2016, saw the end of Cathay Pacific's A340-300 services to Auckland, after many years of operating down under on the Hong Kong - Auckland - Hong Kong route. Cathay have operated in the past B747-200's, B747-400's and now the A340-300 will enter the history books in Cathay's Auckland services. B-HXG wearing the One World Livery had the honour of flying the last CX197/198 A340 flight yesterday.

Cathay will now start to operate the Airbus A350, also giving them the honour of being the first airline to operate the A350 into Auckland.

So Auckland will now only have one sole A340 operator, which is Air Tahiti Nui, until they introduce their new B787-9's into service.

Cathay Pacific B777-300ER, B-KQZ

My first photos of a Cathay Pacific B777-300ER and good to see them on the Hong Kong-Auckland-Hong Kong route operating the daily CX197/198 flights.

Today's CX197 arrival as seen here is B-KQZ arriving on time into Auckland.
I look forward to getting some better shots during the summer season of CX's B777-300ER's and hopefully the A350, if they start on the AKL run also. We will have to wait and see.......

Cathay Pacific A340 - Up Close

Over the next month there is some maintenance work being done on the main taxiway at Auckland which has caused the closure of part of the taxiway. As a result the larger aircraft taxing out from the international terminal for a takeoff on Runway 23L now have to make a dog leg turn onto the secondary taxiway.
