Fedex MD-11F Sunset Arrival - N609FE

It's always great to see an MD-11 and a favourite of mine. I got these shots if N609FE back in May this year and with the sun moving north for the winter, made these sunset shots possible of FX73 from Honolulu on its weekly service through Auckland.

Fedex MD-11, N619FE

Nice to get these photos of Fedex, N619FE arriving into Auckland last week just after sunrise as FX77 from Honolulu carrying some spare parts for another Fedex MD-11 which was already on the ground in Auckland with a mechanical issue. N619FE departed a few hours later just after 9 am heading to Sydney. The take off was one of the best I've seen of a MD-11, and as the aircraft was empty it took off like a rocket and climbed out very very fast and crossed the over Piha, on the west coast, which is just west of Airport at 19,500 ft. Pretty Impressive climb.

Fedex MD-11F, N574FE

Due to a technical problem I believe on Sunday night, which caused the departure of FX75 to Sydney to be delayed until Monday 18th April at 1400. So with some time to spare, I managed to head out and get these photos of N574FE taxing out some 18 hours late. It's rare to see the departures on FX in Auckland on Sundays as they leave after sundown, so making photo ops out of the question.

Ok...the MD-11 is a hot favourite of mine so sorry for so many shots, but it was a good an opportunity to miss in daylight hours.

I just love the rate of climb and power of the MD-11's, and they sure put on a good show at takeoff, and today FX75 sure went up at a great rate, as I tried to get in the takeoff photos below.

FedEx MD-11 - N608FE

I think I've mentioned before that I'm a fan of the MD-11, so took the opportunity to get these shots during late afternoon in the golden light hour of FedEx's FX75, N608FE arriving in from HNL.

First time photos of N608FE for me also, I like the last two photos the best.

FedEX Arrival - Sunset Time

I managed again to make it out for some last minute photos here just before sunset last Sunday.
Was hoping the sun would just stay up long enough for the arrival and this is what I got.

FEDEX FREIGHTER - MD-11F

AT LAST....I've been trying to get some shots of the FedEx MD-11F that comes through Auckland on a Sunday evening.  Until now, I just haven't been around or have been in the wrong place at the wrong time to be able to get some photos.

So this is what I managed to get, and I was lucky to even gets these photos, due to the early arrival and the last rays of light for the day at this time of year. Quite a few shots as went a bit trigger happy on the shutter button.

Some more information on N572FE

This airframe started out service with Garuda Airlines in 1997 registered as PK-GIL and later in 1999 then entering service with Varig and changing its registration to PP-VQJ.
2007 saw another change to a  new operator, TAM as PT-MSH but was put into storage in 2008, not sure where though. In 2009 it was converted to freighter and started service with FedEx.

As last I finally managed to get some photos of the FedEx Freighter which operates through Auckland on Sundays from LAX via HNL using the MD-11F

The Main Cargo Deck has space for 440 cubic metres of cargo and the Lower Deck can accommodate 158 cubic metres. The MD-11F can carry almost 92,000kg of cargo with a max payload.
