The Queen Arrives In Auckland

Wow, what a sight, the best aircraft of all time, in my opinion, and it sure was great to see the Queen of the Skies, passenger version arrive into Auckland on the 28th April.

Qantas up graded their QF145/6 SYD-AKL-SYD service the mighty B747-400ER, due to disrupts caused by LAN Airlines delay disruptions.

VH-OEF with the One World Livery had the honours of making the visit to Auckland.

Qantas New Livery, A330, VH-EBN

Well Qantas have changed their livery slightly, and I mean slightly, with a Font change and a strip of grey in front of the red tail and a sliver of grey also at the back of the Kangaroo.
Looks ok, but not much of a change really.

Qantas B747-400, VH-OEG

Once a regular sight in Auckland was the Qantas B747-400's, but no longer.

However today the 23rd of June,  Auckland had the pleasure of visit by a Qantas B747-400, 
VH-OEG, carrying a load of the British Lions Rugby supporters ahead of the first Test Match of the
All Blacks vs British Lions at Eden Park on Saturday night.

It sure is good to see my favourite aircraft of all time, the B747-400, passenger version, back in town

Qantas B747-400ER, VH-OEF One World Livery

Well I made it back on Imperial Hill in Los Angeles after a long absence and also now with the new Tom Bradley Terminal open and in use. The last time I was here, there were cranes everywhere building the new terminal.

It was good to see this Qantas One World Livery B747-400ER, VH-OEF arrive on runway 25L, and it wasn't to hazy today, as rain clouds were making their way in. So was pretty happy how these turned out. I also guess the Qantas B747-400's days are also going to be number with the announcement by the airline to purchase the B787-9 Dreamliner, with also a new possible route of Melbourne - Dallas mentioned using the Dreamliner.

Qantas A380 VH-OQI Auckland Stopover

Qantas Flight QF8 from DFW to SYD,  yesterday diverted to Auckland for fuel, due to fog conditions in Sydney. QF8 was almost overhead Nadi, Fiji when the call was made by the looks of it to divert to Auckland for fuel. VH-OQI landed in AKL just after 7:30am on runway 05R.
After a refuel and the usual paper work, OQI continued onto SYD.

It was quite overcast and the sun was not long up, so the lighting was not the best for these photos,
but it was great to see a QF A380 in town.

Qantas Freighter VH-EFR

Not a very nice day to arrive into Auckland, it was rather cold and wet as you can see here from these photos as this B767-300F Qantas Freighter VH-EFR in full reverse thrust on runway 23L at AKL.

Special Livery - Qantas B737-800

My first shots of this one off Special Livery worn by a Qantas B737-800, VH-XZJ.

VH-XZJ special livery named, Mendoowoorrji made its first trip to Auckland in February. I believe its first trip to New Zealand was Queenstown.

Almost Missed It........

Well another one from above my house, and if I wasn't outside bringing in the rubbish bin I would have missed it for sure. Pretty rare to see a QF A380 overhead AKL in the cruise.

Aussie Competitors...B737-800's

Leaving 5 minutes apart here are a couple of Aussie Competitors heading back across the Tasman on a very warm November afternoon

Seen here on push back in Sydney is Qantas's B747-438 (c/n 24483) "City of Perth"
 VH-OJF heading off on another International Trip.

Powered by the Rolls Royce RB211-524G2 engines, VH-OJF first flew
on the 20th March 1990 and was accepted by Qantas on the 6th April 1990.
Its last revenue flight was on the 3rd June 2012 as QF108, New York - Los Angeles.
The next day, 4th June 2012 it was ferried to Victorville as QF6021 for storage and awaiting sale from the Qantas fleet.
