Going back through some old photos, I found these shots I took on a cold windy and rainy winters day. Not my best photos but thought I'd share anyway. Some departures off 05R.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter, ZK-HLN

The Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust operates the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, based out of the Heliport at Mechanics Bay in Auckland.

The BK117-850 D2 Helicopter used by Westpac is one of the most commonly used helicopters in the world for rescue work.

Seen here in these photos are ZK-HLN departing Mechanics Bay, and the bottom photo in a rescue demonstration.
ZK-HKZ is also operated out of Auckland.

The new television documentary series "Code 1" is on TVNZ, Thursday nights at 8 pm, showing
real life rescues performed by the team at Westpac Rescue.

I take my hat off to the whole team at Westpac Rescue for their high level professionalism and
care for people who need their service. Keep up the good work.

For more information on the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust you can visit their website  HERE

Cessna A-37B Dragonfly, ZK-JTL

I took these photos back in 2007 at the Whenuapai RNZAF Base in Auckland.

The Cessna A-37B Dragonfly was designed as a light attack aircraft back in the 1960's and was introduced during the Vietnam War. Capable of pulling 6 g's the A-37B was also supplied the the South Vietnamese Air Force. Seen here with two under wing tanks fitted, but is capable of four under wing tanks for longer endurance.

Seen here, ZK-JTL which I believe is the only one in New Zealand.
