This B757-300 started it's flying days with American Trans Air back in 2001 with the registration of
N553TZ.

As you can see its now in service with United Airlines and has the registration N57863

California Science Centre - United Airlines DC-8

Whilst in Los Angeles I made a trip to the California Science Centre for a visit, which is located pretty close to downtown LA. The Science Centre is great, with lots of impressive exhibits and displays on Aviation and Space Flight, along with great general science and technology learning also.
It's a huge place so will be making a trip back again, but not during the USA school holiday season, the place was packed with kids and was very crowded the day I was there.

Thought I'd start by showing these photos of this ex United Airlines DC-8, N8066U which was donated to the California Science Centre back in 1984, I believe. N8066U was also nicknamed
"Los Angeles". Due to its location, I could not get any full length side on shots so had to be happy with these ones.

United Airlines B787-9, N13954

Well this is the only photo that I managed to get of a United Airlines B787-9 when in Los Angeles back in July. Not the best photo and I took this out the window on board NZ4 as we taxied to the gate.

This is United's N13954 parked on a remote layover area at LAX, and United have also announced that all Australia flights will be operated by the B787-9 next year.

This is an almost brand new United Airlines B737-900, N64844

This aircraft was only built this year and was first flown back in February 2015.
And as you can tell from the last photo, I took these in LAX on a very warm and humid evening back in July not long before sunset for the day.

United Airlines - N171UA

In 2014 United will be replacing the B747-400's on their Australia routes with B777's.

I was lucky enough to get some photos of N171UA in Sydney, and this was most likely my last chance get some shots in SYD of a UA B747-400.

N171UA (ms/n 24322)  first flew on the 25 May 1989 making this queen of the skies almost 25 years old.

After checking my flight records, I have flown over 85,000 miles on N171UA over the Pacific Ocean, and Tasman Sea on theses sectors.
LAX-AKL, AKL-MEL, MEL-AKL, AKL-LAX, SFO-SYD, LAX-SYD, SYD-LAX, LAX-MEL.

Note in these photos, No.4 Engine is sporting a Grey Engine Cowling....
