Singapore Airlines A380, 9V-SKC

Singapore Airlines have again commenced their summer season A380 services into Auckland, instead of the winter operations by the B777-300ER.

Auckland Airport - Reduced Length Runway Landing - Singapore Airlines

Over the last month Auckland Airport has being doing some taxiway works at the far eastern end of airport at the taxiway entrance to 23L. As a result the airport has been operating a reduced length runway for all landings and takeoffs. I'd now wish I had made it out for more photos of the landings on 23L. So made it out on the last day of the reduce length landings and got these photos of SQ295, 9V-SWO arriving.

During the reduced length runway in March from what I believe there were only to go around due to the aircraft not on the correct profile for landing. Both were A380's, An Emirates A380 actually touched down, but way to long and decided he was not going to stop in time so took off again. An an SQ A380 decided to go around due to being to high at about 200 ft.

Singapore Airlines B777-200ER, 9V-SVG

Yesterday the 10th Feb Singapore Airlines had an extra flight into Auckland using a B777-200ER.

9V-SVG operated SQ8287 into Auckland from Singapore and departed back to Singapore at 1400.

I'm not sure on the reason for this extra flight but I suspect the reason is related to a Chinese New Year Charter. Singapore also operated their usual A380 service as well yesterday.

Singapore Airlines - SG50 Livery

Well it's that time of year again, and Singapore Airlines have started their A380 services to Auckland operating the daily return flights SQ285/SQ286 for the 2015/2016 summer season.

And yesterday the 27th Oct saw their second A380 flight for the season arrive into Auckland with their SG50 Special Livery worn by 9V-SKJ.
It looks pretty good and I hope to get some better shots over the summer period of SKJ or SKI if they make down to AKL. The last 2 photos aren't the best, could have been better.

It's been a while since I have taken any Singapore Airlines pics, and as the SQ A380 summer session will be starting again soon, thought I'd sneak in these photos of 9V-SWO taxing out as the daily SQ286 from Auckland to Singapore.

Singapore Airlines A380

Singapore Airlines first summer season of operating the A380 into Auckland has come to an end and they have reverted back to the B777-300ER for the winter months. SQ will resume their A380 flights back to Auckland at the start of summer later on this year again.

I took these photos of 9V-SFK departing Auckland's Runway 05R as SQ286 a couple of days before the last A380 flight.

Singapore Airlines A380 - Off Airport

I can't make it to the airport everyday, some days way to much to do around the house, etc etc, but doing jobs outside with camera nearby can be a plus also.

Sorry don't know the registration, but here is SQ285 downwind for runway 23L over my place. Good timing for the second shot, and I was lucky to even get the first one.

Singapore Airlines Commence A380 AKL Flights

Tuesday 28th October 14 saw the arrival into Auckland of Singapore Airlines inaugural A380 service arriving from Singapore on their daily flight SQ285, replacing the B777-300ER.

9V-SKB touched down in Auckland just before 11:30am on runway 05R. As part of the Alliance formed with Air New Zealand, SQ will operate the A380 daily into Auckland on their daytime flights during the peak summer months and operate the B777-300ER's during the winter months.
Starting in early January Air NZ will take over SQ's night time service departing AKL just after midnight using their newly refurbished B777-200ER's.

So heres my pics from 9V-SKB's arrival in Auckland.

Singapore Airlines A380

Singapore Airlines have announced the start of their A380 flights to Auckland, starting on
October 27th, replacing their B777-300 aircraft with currently flies the SQ285/286 AKL flights.

I look forward to seeing another airline operating the A380 into Auckland and here's my only photo I have of an SQ A380, sorry didn't have time to get the whole plane in the photo. More photos coming soon in October....

NZ & SQ Alliance

Well as announced by Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines yesterday the 16th Jan, that they are to form an Alliance, which will see Air New Zealand to restart flying their own metal once again to Singapore after leaving that route in 2006, and the introduction on the AKL run of the A380 by SQ during the peak season. Good news all round I reckon.

So a couple of photos to suit.....not my best shots but anyway.....

The Big and Small.......

A size comparison this time. SQ7293 to Melbourne 9V-SFP taxis out and holds short of Runway 23L at Auckland while a Cessna Centurion T210R, ZK-TRO taxis pass also holding for a departure on 23L.
