Welcome Back United Airlines

Good to see United Airlines back in Auckland for the summer months, and resuming flights from San Francisco after a break over the southern hemisphere winter.

United have also up gauged to the B777-300ER on the Auckland run, after initially planning on using the B787-9.

Some photos of the first arrival of UA917 from San Francisco operated by, N2136U, which also had the honours for being the first UA B777-300ER to visit Auckland.

United Airlines B787-8, N20905

I took these shots back on the 19th October with United Airlines flight UA817 running a little late, and with the sun coming up earlier now.

This is N20905 arriving from San Francisco, and check out the wing flex in the third photo, and touch down smoke on the main gear.

United Airlines B777-200ER, N797UA

United Airlines have changed from B787-8 services to Auckland to now a daily B777-200ER operations with an extra 50 seats available each day between SFO-AKL-SFO.

Sure is good to see United back in Auckland, but miss the B747-400's they used to fly here.

Just made it in time to get these photos of N797UA arriving on runway 05R, I would have been nice to have the sun out a little more and some nice blue sky, maybe next time.

United Airlines - Welcome Back to Auckland

Well after 13 years 3 months and 4 days, it sure is great to see my old employer back in Auckland.

United Airlines inaugural B787-8 flight touched down in Auckland at 0641 yesterday the 3rd Jul from San Francisco and arrived at gate 6 to a warm welcome on a cold winters morning.

United will operate on the San Francisco - Auckland  - San Francisco route in conjunction with Air New Zealand in a joint revenue sharing / marketing alliance. They will operate the B787-8 Dreamliner 3 days a week until October when they will upgrade to the B787-9 and also go to daily flights.

Their first flight was operated N27908 and it was just perfect conditions for a sunny winters day takeoff back to SFO.
