Matamata Aerodrome

Last weekend I headed south again. On my return trip north again I decided to come back via a different route through Matamata in the Waikato, and a very brief stop at the Matamata Aerodrome, just north of Matamata at Waharoa.

The aerodrome has grass strips, with a few flying clubs and gliding clubs based there. The weather was rather wet and gloomy when I pulled in, but was happy to get some quick photo's of these three aircraft.

Super Air's Fletcher FU24 - ZK-DZO

Well its great to get out of the city and head for the hills every now an again. That's exactly what I did a few weeks ago heading south for a few days and not looking for any airplanes to take photos of.

But in the rural location I was staying at, and the sound of this just down the road buzzing overhead made the temptation to great, so grabbed the camera and when to get these shots of a really classic NZ Aviation scenes, of this Super Air's Fletcher FU24, ZK-DZO operating out of small strip in the hills just out of Rotorua.

It was very late in the day and rather overcast and a little dark, so getting some good shots was pretty hard but managed these one's and a little bit of the action.

Rural Aviation - Top Dressing

Last weekend I was passing through Te Kuiti, a rural town in the North Island and spotted an aircraft landing at the local grass airstrip.

These photos are of two Super Air's aircraft that were at the airfield. Both aircraft were different models of Aerial Top Dressing aircraft. The first six photos are of a Fletcher FU24, ZK-CML, and the last three photos are of a Cresco 08-600, ZK-LTT.

ZK-LTT was the aircraft that I saw land, and by the time I arrived was getting a wash down with a water blaster after a local flight.
