Last B767-300ER Departs, ZK-NCG

Another chapter in the history books closed, with the last departure of the last remaining Air New Zealand B767-300ER, ZK-NCG on the 28th June 2017.

ZK-NCG had the honour of being the last B767 remaining in Auckland to depart New Zealand shores for good, and relegating the B767-300ER to Air NZ history books.

With a perfect blue winter sky, my last photos of NCG before it departed for Alice Springs.

Farewell Retired B767-300ER, ZK-NCI

Air New Zealand's retired B767-300ER, ZK-NCI has left New Zealand for the last time, on Saturday the 24th Jun 2016, as NZ6011, destination, Alice Springs, Australia.

ZK-NCI is the second to last B767-300ER to leave after being retired from service, only leaving ZK-NCG left yet to depart.

So it was great to get these one last time photos of ZK-NCI on a rather grey and wet Saturday before she left our shores for good. Farewell NCI.

Air New Zealand B767-300ER, ZK-NCK

Back on the 4th July 2016, Air New Zealand's recently retired B767-300ER, ZK-NCK departed Auckland for the very last time. Operating a delivery flight to Alice Springs, Australia for the new owners.

Not sure if ZK-NCK in still in Alice Springs, but after arriving on the 4th July, NCK was due to stay there until the new owners decided fly her again.

Well here's my photo's I got of ZK-NCK leaving Auckland for the last time on what was a rather cold and very dull winters day.

Air New Zealand B767-300ER, ZK-NCI

Air New Zealand's B767-300ER's days are number at the airline, and as more B787-9's arrive at Air New Zealand, see's the retirement date of the last B767 get a little closer.

I am not sure on which B767 will be the last to go.

I was pretty pleased how these shots came out of ZK-NCI, departing as NZ61 to Rarotonga.
Nice blue sky, and the late afternoon sun.

Air New Zealand B767-300ER, ZK-NCJ

Well Air New Zealand's B767's have had a long and very good life at the airline, but as this year sees the arrival of 3 more B787-9's into the fleet, the days of seeing these great work horses flying in our skies is getting closer to the end. But they still have some life left in them yet and will continue to serve the airline on their new Vietnam and Philippine's routes I would say until at least the end of 2017.

Do be honest I have not got many good photos of Air NZ's B767's, so might try a bit harder between now and the end of next year. Starting with these shots off ZK-NCJ.

Air New Zealand's B767-300 - ZK-NCJ

Another arrival onto 05R at AKL arriving from SYD as NZ104 operated by ZK-NCJ today.
Perfect conditions for flying today, clear skies and no wind, Cold though.
Winter is by far the best time for taking photos, great light and no heat haze.

Air New Zealand B767-300ER - ZK-NCJ & ZK-NCG

Late afternoon in winter can be quite spectacular with some great light for taking photos like these., and photos in general. The low sun on the horizon and no heat haze really helps.

So on this occasion, and amazing only about 10 minutes apart were these two arrivals into Auckland.
The first being ZK-NCJ and the second ZK-NCG (last 3 photos).

Hawaiian Airlines B767-300 - N582HA

Hawaiian Airlines has some of its maintainance performed in Auckland by Air New Zealand Tech Ops. Was lucky enough to be passing by and see this Hawaiian Airlines B767-300, N582HA out of the hanger and just about to commence an engine run. Also noted was that the winglets were removed.
N582HA first flew in 2001.
