Air New Zealand's B787-9, ZK-NZN Enters Service

Air New Zealand's brand new B787-9, ZK-NZN has been delivered to New Zealand arriving into Auckland from Boeing's Paine Field on Sunday the 16th Sep 2018.  The aircraft is configured with 275 seats, dubbed (Code 2) in the airlines B787 fleet.

ZK-NZN entered into commercial service on Thursday 20th Sep 2018 operating its first revenue flight, NZ101 from Auckland to Sydney, and returning back to Auckland mid afternoon as NZ102.

It was nice to be able to get these shots of NZN's first day in action and of NZ102 arriving back into Auckland for the first time, with passengers on board. The moon sure was in a great spot in the first photo.

EVA Air B777-300ER, ZK-OKT

Well Air New Zealand's leased B777-300ER, ZK-OKT from EVA Air has been in service for several weeks now, and at last some decent weather to get some better shots. It sure is a clean looking aircraft  looking from the outside and I understand the interior is in excellent condition also.

Air New Zealand B777-200ER, ZK-OKD Moon Shot

Well I've been trying for years waiting to get a shot like this one, and at last finally managed to get one. It could have been a lot better if I had a better camera and lens.

Sunset Departures...

There were sure some nice sunsets in the weekend, so a good excuse to get the camera out for some practice. The first shot is the DHL B757 Freighter, VH-TCA departing for Sydney and the second shot is Air New Zealand flight NZ8 departing for San Francisco.

Full Power Wet Runway Takeoff

Just after a very heavy downpour of rain Air New Zealand's flight, NZ28 from Auckland to Houston in ZK-OKE taxied out and departed on a very wet Runway 23L. As you can see dark clouds moving away to the south.

Air New Zealand Brand New B787-9, ZK-NZL

Air New Zealand's newest and brand new B787-9, ZK-NZL has arrived in Auckland, arriving on Sunday 8th October early evening in light rain and overcast conditions.

It arrived as NZ6094 from Houston after a one night technical stop en route from Charleston.

ZK-NZL is the first Boeing delivered to Air New Zealand that was built at Boeing's Charleston factory in South Carolina.

ZK-NZL also sports a new cabin configuration layout, with only 275 seats. 27 Premium Seats, 33 Premium Economy and 215 Economy Seats. The new cabin layout based on a strong demand for more Premium Seats, and NZL will be deployed on the Auckland - Houston route starting in December,

Well its good to see at long last, Air New Zealand have finally painted one of there Air Nelson, Link's Q300, ZK-NEM into the All Black Livery, as worn by other aircraft type in the fleet.

Managed to get these shots of its second visit to Auckland in the new colour scheme.

I really like taking photos during the late afternoon, sun setting low in the sky time of day, and with the camera on the right setting you can get time nice shots. Some shots of ZK-OKM arriving back from Nadi, Fiji with some dark clouds passing through to the east and south.

Air New Zealand A320, ZK-OXI

Well there has not been much blue sky in Auckland this winter, so the other day when there was, bingo, perfect timing again to get this shot of Air New Zealand's ZK-OXI departing runway 05R and making a right turn before the end of the runway. Must have been a light load.

Last B767-300ER Departs, ZK-NCG

Another chapter in the history books closed, with the last departure of the last remaining Air New Zealand B767-300ER, ZK-NCG on the 28th June 2017.

ZK-NCG had the honour of being the last B767 remaining in Auckland to depart New Zealand shores for good, and relegating the B767-300ER to Air NZ history books.

With a perfect blue winter sky, my last photos of NCG before it departed for Alice Springs.

Farewell Retired B767-300ER, ZK-NCI

Air New Zealand's retired B767-300ER, ZK-NCI has left New Zealand for the last time, on Saturday the 24th Jun 2016, as NZ6011, destination, Alice Springs, Australia.

ZK-NCI is the second to last B767-300ER to leave after being retired from service, only leaving ZK-NCG left yet to depart.

So it was great to get these one last time photos of ZK-NCI on a rather grey and wet Saturday before she left our shores for good. Farewell NCI.
