Rarotonga

This place is just great. Rarotonga is located 1873 miles north east of New Zealand in the Tropical region of the Pacific Ocean.  Flying time to RAR from AKL is about 3 1/2 hours.

Air Rarotonga operates to 10 destinations in the Cook Islands Group including Rarotonga with a fleet of Saab 340, Embraer Bandeirante and a Cessna 172 Skyhawk. Air Rarotonga also Code shares with Papeete based Air Tahiti using the ATR72-500.  The main Tourist Island serviced by Air Rarotonga is Aitutaki Lagoon, 163 miles to the north of Rarotonga. Aitutaki used to be stopover on the Famous Coral Route operated by TEAL with the Shorts Solent Flying Boats. The runway in Aitutaki was built by the Americans during the Pacific War, and has just recently been Tar-Sealed.
