Bishop Airport, CA

Well as promised, some more photos I took at Bishop Airport, CA back on the 4th July.
Bishop Airport, KBIH is located 2 miles east of downtown Bishop, CA, Inyo County in the
Owens Valley at the Base of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range.

On the 4th July when I took these photos, there were late afternoon / early evening thunderstorms lurking around creating some awesome light conditions and as the sun set low, the clouds just looked amazing. It was dam warm also, and the air con in the car sure was a relief. So I hope you like these photos from Bishop.

Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane - N171AC

Some more photos as promised from Bishop Airport, CA on the 4th July.
Was I in luck when I saw this parked on the far side of the airport. I could see it from a distance but there was no way of driving over to it, so I headed off on foot fast as the sun was setting fast also.

This is the Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane,  a heavy lift helicopter, hence the name "Skycrane".
And this machine, N171AC, named "Annie" was being based at Bishop Airport for the summer as a standby helicopter for Southern California or where ever it might be needed to fight those summer bush fires. This sure is a huge machine and it was great see it in person, and not just on the Discovery Channel, where it has feature many times.

Hunting Percival Jet - NX400LT

I took these photos on the 4th July at Bishop Eastern Sierra Regional Airport, KBIH, California.

Bishop, CA was my one of my overnight stops on our U.S.A Road Trip and the 4th of July celebrations just happened to be held at the Bishop Airport for the fireworks display after sundown.

The sun was setting fast under a some afternoon storm cloud buildups, and light was terrible, but was pleasantly surprised to find this Hunting Percival Jet, (BAC) T.5A NX400LT parked on the ramp.

I have more photos from Bishop, and will share soon.
